Tinolang Manok " Chicken Ginger Stew"




Tinolang manok one of my favorite Filipino dish. I like the combination of ginger and the chili pepper leaves which adds greatly on the soothing taste of the dish. I love to eat it during rainy days and whenever I am not feeling well.. :) Some add green papaya on it, but I just like sayote instead of papaya because of it's sweet taste. If you want to try this, see below for the ingredients and cooking instruction.

Ingredients:
  • Chicken (cut into serving pcs.)
  • Chilli pepper leaves
  • Sayote or green papaya ( cut into wedges)
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Ginger
  • Tomato
  • Fish sauce
  • Salt

Cooking Instruction:
  • Saute the garlic, onion, tomato and ginger. 
  • Put in the chicken and cook until the color turns light brown.
  • Add sayote and fish sauce. Pour in water and let it boil for about 25 minutes.
  • Add chilli pepper leaves and salt to taste.
  • Let it simmer for another 3 minutes.
  • Serve hot! :)

Ginisang Ampalaya "Sauteed Bitter Melon"




Ampalaya has a very high nutrient content. Personally I don't like the bitter taste of this veggie, until someone recommend it to me which according to them it is good for people who are low blood. So I tried to cook it last Wednesday. Below are the ingredients and cooking instruction.

Ingredients:

  • Ampalaya (sliced thinly)
  • Egg 
  • Ground beef 
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Water
  • Salt and pepper

Cooking Instruction:
  • In a pan saute garlic, onion and tomato. Add ground beef cook until the meat turns brown.
  • Add ampalaya and water. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add egg, salt and pepper.
  • Let it cooked for another 5 minutes.
  • Don't overcook the vegetable.

Paksiw na Pata (Braised Pork Leg) ^_^



Braised Pork leg, cooked in vinegar and soy sauce. An easy dish to prepare but will take some time to cook the Pork leg. You can choose on how to prepare it, some like it sweet and some like it sour. Personally, I like it sweet and sour and the meat as tender as it almost separates from it's bone..yummy!  :) See below ingredients and cooking instructions..hope you'll try this! ^_^


Ingredients:

  •  Pork leg, cut crosswise
  • Garlic, crushed
  • Vinegar
  • Soy sauce
  • Dried banana blossoms
  • Dried bay leaves
  • Sugar
  • Salt and Pepper Corn
  • Water

Cooking Instructions:
  • In a cooking pot put in Pork leg, water, soy sauce, bay leaves, garlic and whole pepper corns. 
  • Let it boil for about an hour. Until the pork leg is tender.
  • Add the vinegar and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  • Add the banana blossoms, brown sugar and salt then let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Serve hot and enjoy it with friends! :)
