Prawns with Malunggay leaves ^_^





Prawns with malunggay is a healthy dish plus it's very easy to prepare. Malunggay is loaded with vitamins and minerals that can be an effective remedy against many kinds of ailments. Now a days it is also available in almost all supermarkets in a powder form. But I still prefer using the fresh leaves of it.. if you want to try this cuisine, below are the ingredients and cooking directions.


Ingredients:

Prawns
Fresh malunggay leavesCoconut milk
Squash
Ginger
Garlic
Onion
Water
Salt


Cooking Instruction:

1) In a pan, saute garlic, onion and ginger. Mix well then pour in water and squash. Let it simmer for 15 minutes.

2) Add the prawns. malunggay and coconut milk. Let it simmer for another 15 minutes or until the prawns turns orange in color.

3) Add salt to taste. Serve hot with rice! :)

Pork Adobo with Egg ^_^




Pork Adobo is braised pork in soy sauce and vinegar. I love this dish, there are a lot of ways in cooking it and i like mixing and adding new ingredients into it. This time i chose to add hard boiled eggs. You can use any meat and you can adjust the taste according to your preference.


Ingredients:


1 kg pork ( liempo or your choice of pork part)
Hard-boiled eggs
12 cup soy sauce
12 cup vinegar
2 cups water
1 whole minced garlic
1 onion
Whole pepper corns
Bay Leaves
Cooking oil
Salt and sugar


Cooking Procedure:


1. Marinate pork in soy sauce, vinegar, bay leaves, 6 cloves minced garlic, and ½ of the sliced onion for at least 30 minutes. 

2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, sauté remaining garlic in oil until light brown. Add remaining onion and sauté until translucent.

3. Add pork and pepper corns Let it simmer for about 45 minutes or until pork is tender. Add water if necessary.

4. Add salt and sugar to adjust the taste according to your preference. Add boiled eggs (optional). Simmer for 5 more minutes. Remove from heat. Serve hot with rice.

Tinolang Manok " Chicken Ginger Stew"




Tinolang manok one of my favorite Filipino dish. I like the combination of ginger and the chili pepper leaves which adds greatly on the soothing taste of the dish. I love to eat it during rainy days and whenever I am not feeling well.. :) Some add green papaya on it, but I just like sayote instead of papaya because of it's sweet taste. If you want to try this, see below for the ingredients and cooking instruction.

Ingredients:
  • Chicken (cut into serving pcs.)
  • Chilli pepper leaves
  • Sayote or green papaya ( cut into wedges)
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Ginger
  • Tomato
  • Fish sauce
  • Salt

Cooking Instruction:
  • Saute the garlic, onion, tomato and ginger. 
  • Put in the chicken and cook until the color turns light brown.
  • Add sayote and fish sauce. Pour in water and let it boil for about 25 minutes.
  • Add chilli pepper leaves and salt to taste.
  • Let it simmer for another 3 minutes.
  • Serve hot! :)

Ginisang Ampalaya "Sauteed Bitter Melon"




Ampalaya has a very high nutrient content. Personally I don't like the bitter taste of this veggie, until someone recommend it to me which according to them it is good for people who are low blood. So I tried to cook it last Wednesday. Below are the ingredients and cooking instruction.

Ingredients:

  • Ampalaya (sliced thinly)
  • Egg 
  • Ground beef 
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Water
  • Salt and pepper

Cooking Instruction:
  • In a pan saute garlic, onion and tomato. Add ground beef cook until the meat turns brown.
  • Add ampalaya and water. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add egg, salt and pepper.
  • Let it cooked for another 5 minutes.
  • Don't overcook the vegetable.

Paksiw na Pata (Braised Pork Leg) ^_^



Braised Pork leg, cooked in vinegar and soy sauce. An easy dish to prepare but will take some time to cook the Pork leg. You can choose on how to prepare it, some like it sweet and some like it sour. Personally, I like it sweet and sour and the meat as tender as it almost separates from it's bone..yummy!  :) See below ingredients and cooking instructions..hope you'll try this! ^_^


Ingredients:

  •  Pork leg, cut crosswise
  • Garlic, crushed
  • Vinegar
  • Soy sauce
  • Dried banana blossoms
  • Dried bay leaves
  • Sugar
  • Salt and Pepper Corn
  • Water

Cooking Instructions:
  • In a cooking pot put in Pork leg, water, soy sauce, bay leaves, garlic and whole pepper corns. 
  • Let it boil for about an hour. Until the pork leg is tender.
  • Add the vinegar and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  • Add the banana blossoms, brown sugar and salt then let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Serve hot and enjoy it with friends! :)

Adobong Pusit ^_^



Adobong Pusit, a tasty squid dish cooked in soy sauce and vinegar. I don't have really the intention of cooking this dish today. But while I am cooking other dish, my friend arrived with a squid she bought from the market near our place :) So I cooked it the way I know.. if you want try it see below ingredients and cooking instructions. Enjoy! ^_^

Ingredients:

  • Squid, cleaned
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Soy sauce
  • Vinegar
  • Cooking oil
  • Sugar 
  • Salt and pepper
  • Dried bay leaves
Cooking Instructions:
  • In a cooking pot, pour in water, vinegar, soy sauce, bay leaves and squid.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes. Set aside.
  • In a separate pan heat cooking oil, saute garlic and onion.
  • Pour in the squid cooked earlier. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
  • Add sugar, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Let it simmer for another 3 minutes.
  • Serve hot and enjoy! ^_^

Squash and String Beans with coconut milk ^_^



"Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa" a Filipino style recipe.. a combination of string beans and squash simmered in coconut milk, simple but tasty and nutritious vegetable dish. It can be cooked with pork, shrimp or crab whichever you prefer to mix with it. This time, I've cooked it with pork as one of my friend don't eat shrimp nor crab.. :) Hope she will like it.. below are the ingredients and a simple and easy way of cooking this dish.. ^_^

Ingredients:

  • Squash, peeled and cut into cubes
  • String beans, cut into pcs.
  • Pork, diced
  • Fish sauce
  • Coconut milk
  • Garlic, minced
  • Onion, chopped
  • Cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Water

Cooking Instruction:
  • In a saucepan, heat cooking oil then saute onion and garlic. Put in pork meat and mix well.
  • Add the squash and string beans. Pour in water and season with fish sauce.
  • Let it simmer until vegetables are tender.
  • Pour in coconut milk and simmer for another 5 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve hot and enjoy! ^_^

Pork Binagoongan ( Pork in Shrimp Paste) ^_^



Yesterday, one of my team mate told me that his girlfriend was happy checking on my blogs, then he asked me if I know how to cook "Pork Binagoongan" then suddenly I was challenged.. though I never have the chance before to cook it.. I suddenly said "yes I can! ".. ^_^ I was so glad knowing that someone I haven't  meet yet, appreciated my blogs.. and it inspired me to cook more..  :)  "Pork Binagoongan" this is the first time I'm going to cook it and I am excited! Hoping they will like it.. and everyone who got the chance and time to check on this blog of mine. If you want to try the way I've experimented.. below are the ingredients and instructions. Hope you'll like it! ^_^

Ingredients:

  • Pork Liempo, cubed
  • Garlic, minced
  • Onion, chopped
  • Tomato, chopped
  • Chili, sliced
  • Shrimp paste
  • Vinegar
  • Bay leaves
  • Pepper Corn
  • water
  • salt and pepper

Cooking Instructions:
  • In a pot, pour in water, pork, vinegar and bay leaves and simmer for 30 minutes or until meat is tender.
  • Remove the meat from the pot and separate the liquid from it then set aside.
  • In a separate pan, saute garlic, onion and tomato. Add the shrimp paste and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Put the pork in , mix all the ingredients well and cook for another 10 minutes.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve hot with more rice. Share it and enjoy! :)

Tilapia with coconut milk ^_^



This is my first weekend in our apartment and got a chance to go around the wet market just near our place. And I saw a lot of fresh fish, so I decided to cook Ginataang Tilapia for Sunday lunch.. ^_^ If you want to try it, just follow the instructions below. It's very easy to prepare! :)

Ingredients:

  • Tilapia, medium size
  • Pechay
  • Garlic, crushed
  • Onion, diced
  • Ginger, minced
  • Green Chili, long
  • Coconut milk
  • salt and white pepper 
Cooking Intructions:
  • In a cooking pot, place all ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper, then let it cooked for another 5 minutes.
  • Serve hot! Enjoy! :)

Pork Liempo Sinigang ^_^



I love to cook and eat sinigang whenever it rains, I don't know the significance but I just do. And now that it's raining, I was inspired to cook Pork Liempo Sinigang even though I am tired from office :) If you want to try it, see below ingredients and on how to prepare it.. enjoy! ^_^

Ingredients:
1 kilo, pork liempo sliced
Okra
Pechay
Long green chili
Gabi
Onion
Tomato
Sinigang sa Gabi Mix
Water
Patis or salt 


Cooking Procedure:
  • In a large pot, put together pork liempo, onion, tomato and water. Cover and simmer for 30 mins or until meat is tender.
  • Put gabi and okra then simmer for another 30 mins. Then pour Sinigang sa gabi mix and long green chili. Season with salt or patis.
  • Serve hot, enjoy! :)

Pininyahang Manok (Pineapple Chicken)... ^_^



Pininyahang Manok.. the first dish i've cooked in our new place.. :) This is one of my favorite viands, i like the taste of pineapple combined with the evaporated milk. You can also use coconut milk instead of evaporated milk. Try it! Below are the ingredients and steps to cook it..enjoy! ^_^

Ingredients:
Chicken, cut into serving pcs.
1 canned pineapple chunks
1 small canned, evaporated milk
Carrot
Bell pepper
garlic
onion
salt and pepper
cooking oil

Cooking Procedure:

  • In a cooking pan, saute garlic, onion and bell pepper in cooking oil.
  • Add the chicken and pineapple juice derived from the can of pineapple chunks for about 20 minutes.
  • Add the evaporated milk and bring to boil. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the pineapple chunks and carrots, simmer until the chicken is tender, approximately about 20 minutes.
  • Serve hot and enjoy! ^_^

Bamboo Shoots & Shrimps with coconut milk ^_^


Bamboo shoots or commonly known "labong" is best cooked with coconut milk, it is usually bought per cups in markets, but nowadays it is also available in cans though it is much better to use fresh bamboo shoots. This native Filipino dish is just easy to prepare, just follow steps below.. ^_^

Ingredients:
shrimps
coconut milk
2 cloves garlic crushed
1 thumb-sized ginger, crushed
1 cup bamboo shoots
Onions, sliced
Spanish pepper ( siling haba)
salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions:
Saute garlic, ginger and onion then add the bamboo shoots, cook until tender.
Add the shrimp and coconut milk. Bring to a boil.
Shrimp is cooked when it turns pink.
Season to taste and add spanish pepper. Let it simmer for a minute.

Pancit Bihon w/ Canton ^_^


This is an all time favorite Filipino noodle dish that can be served anytime, can be any occasion or even on an ordinary day. Some eat it alone but some top it on rice ^_^ Though you can cook either pancit bihon (rice noodles) alone or just pancit canton (yellow chinese noodles), I prefer cooking it mixed.. if you want to try it..below are the ingredients and cooking instructions ^_^

Ingredients:
pancit bihon (rice noodles)
pancit canton (yellow Chinese noodles)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons oil
Chicken (cooked)
Shrimp and chicken liver (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 large carrot, cut into matchsticks
1 small cabbage, shredded
Chicharo
celery/ kintsay
water
calamansi


Cooking Instructions:
  • Soak the bihon in warm water for about 5 minutes until soft. Drain.
  • In a large wok or frying pan, saute the onion and garlic in oil. Add the chicken and chicken liver, add salt and pepper to taste, then stir fry everything.
  • Add the shrimps (optional) and cook for 1 minute. Add the soy sauce and all the vegetables - carrots, cabbage, celery/kintsay - and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Add the water and bring to a boil for another 2 minutes. Remove all the ingredients from the wok, leaving behind only the liquid. Set the cooked meat-vegetable mixture aside.
  • Add the bihon and canton noodles to the liquid. Mix well and cover for 5 minutes.
  • Pour meat-vegetable mixture to the wok and mix with the noodles. 
  • Serve with calamansi.

Creamy Spaghetti with cream of mushroom ^_^


Spaghetti is an all time favorite dish of almost everyone especially kids. I've cooked it several times in almost
all ocassions and I love adding spices on it whenever I cook it. This time, I added cream of mushroom and all purpose cream to make it creamy.. below are the ingredients, if you want to try the way I did.. enjoy! ^_^

Ingredients:
1 kilo, Spaghetti pasta
Spaghetti sauce
Tomato paste
All purpose cream
Cream of mushroom
Cheese
Ground beef
Hotdog
Carrots
Red bell pepper
Onion
Garlic
Oil/ butter
Soy sauce
Salt and pepper

Cooking Instructions:
For the sauce, heat oil in a deep pan saute garlic, onion, bell pepper. Add ground beef, hotdogs and soy sauce, let it simmer for 3 minutes. Add carrots, salt and pepper to taste. Then pour spaghetti sauce, tomato paste, cream of mushroom. Let it boil and add all purpose cream. Let it simmer for another 3 minutes.

For the pasta, boil water in a big casserole adding salt and oil. Then pour pasta until you achieved it's desired softness.

Pour cooked spaghetti sauce into the pasta, serve with grated cheese on top.. ^_^

Chicken Lollipop ^_^


Chicken Lollipop one of the easiest dish to prepare, especially if you don't have much time.. Here's how to prepare it.. ^_^

Ingredients:
1 kilo, Chicken wings
flour/ corn starch
2 eggs
water
white pepper
salt
oil

Cooking instructions:
Cut the wings into two, chop the end bone.Pull the flesh up with the skin and mold into a lollipop.
Mix all the remaining ingredients in a bowl until you made a thick batter.
Heat oil in a deep pan, dip the lollipop into the thick batter and fry on a medium heat until it turned into a light brown color. Serve hot with your favorite sauce.

Beef Adobo with Lemon and Rosemary ^_^



This is the first time that I've cooked Adobo with Beef Sirloin.. and I was excited to do it with some additional spices. Though it takes time to make the meat as tender as I liked to, it was worth it.. the taste is good.. and I'm looking forward to do it again and will try another set of additional spices on it. But for now, below are the ingredients and procedure if anyone would like to try my experiment.. enjoy!  ^_^

Ingredients:
1 kilo Beef Sirloin
1 whole lemon (juiced)
1/3 tsp. rosemary 
Bay leaf
Peppercorns
Garlic
1 tsp. brown sugar
Vinegar
Soy sauce
Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Procedure:
In a bowl mix vinegar, soy sauce and sugar then pour into the Beef in a cooking pan. Add garlic, bayleaf, peppercorns and lemon juice cover and let it boil and simmer in medium heat for 45 minutes or until tender, add water as necessary. Add rosemary, season with salt and pepper to taste and continue to simmer until almost dry.

avocado for dessert ^_^






Avocado Mania!!! 


To enjoy the great taste of avocado, you can just simply add milk, sugar and crushed/cubed ice.. mixed all together just like a smoothie.. yummy!!! ^_^

Do you know that avocados are loaded with nutrients such as dietary fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E, potassium, magnesium and folate. They're also cholesterol and sodium free. Avocados contain more potassium than bananas.

Shrimp with coconut milk ^_^



After a long week of working, it feels good to cook at home.. =)
this is what I miss doing whenever I am at boarding house..


If you want to try this simple dish of mine.. below are the ingredients:
1 kilo Shrimp
coconut milk
squash ( riped ), cut into cubes
string beans, cut into desired size
1/2 head garlic, finely chopped
1 small sized ginger, chopped
1 medium sized onion, chopped
1 tsp. olive oil 
salt 

Cooking procedure:
In a large wok/cooking pan sauté garlic, ginger and onion in olive oil. Add Shrimp, squash and string beans, stir until the shrimp's color start to change. Pour coconut milk and season with salt. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until the squash is on your desired softness.

2nd Option : Easiest way..
Mixed all ingredients in a cooking pan without the olive oil. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until the veggies are cooked.
